About the Provider
Dr. Smrtka grew up in Detroit, Michigan with his three sisters. He attended Fordham University in The Bronx borough of New York City where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He received his medical degree from Duke University in North Carolina and went on to complete his OB/GYN residency and maternal-fetal medicine fellowship there, as well. During his time at Duke, Dr. Smrtka served as Administrative Chief Resident and was honored with a number of other awards.
Dr. Smrtka enjoys the interactions he has with patients and their families and the privilege of helping them work toward good, healthy outcomes for one of the most important experiences of their lives. He is fascinated by the vast changes of pregnancy and enjoys taking care of all high-risk pregnancies. His particular clinical interests include bleeding and clotting disorders, obesity and prenatal diagnosis. Dr. Smrtka is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Smrtka likes to cook, run and travel. He and his wife have three children and are excited to be back in the Pacific Northwest.
